The Lord seems sweet to that humble being who is blessed by the Grace of the Lord.

His hunger and pain are totally taken away; he chants the Glorious Praises of the Lord, Har, Har. ||1||

In plain words

The One tastes sweet to the humble person the One blesses with kindness.

All their hunger and pain are taken away as they sing the praises of the One, Har, Har.

When grace touches a heart, remembering the One tastes sweet.
The deeper layer

The One tastes sweet to a heart touched by grace, and hunger and pain lift.

Tis jan ka-o har meeth lagaanaa: the One tastes sweet to that person, jis har har kirpaa karai, the one the One blesses with kindness. Grace is a gift that is always here; the heart opens to it.

Tis kee bhookh dookh sabh utrai: all their hunger and pain are lifted, jo har gun har uchrai, as they sing the One's praises. Think of the taste of a ripe strawberry. Nobody has to argue you into it. Sweetness is something you feel.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that tastes sweeter once you appreciate it?
