Seeing All With The Same Eyes

har kaa chihan so-ee har jan kaa har aapay jan meh aap rakhaaNt.
This is the Quality of the Lord, and of the Lord's humble servants as well; the Lord places His Own Essence within them.

Blessed, blessed, is Guru Nanak, who looks impartially on all; He crosses over and transcends both slander and praise. ||4||5||

In plain words

This is the mark of the One, and the mark of the One's humble servants too: the One places the One's own self inside them.

Blessed, blessed is Guru Nanak, who looks on all with the same eyes, and who has crossed beyond both blame and praise.

The truest hearts look on everyone with the same kind eyes, steady through praise or blame.
The deeper layer

The One lives inside the One's people, and the one who sees everyone the same stays steady through praise and blame.

Har kaa chihan so-ee har jan kaa: the mark of the One is also the mark of the One's people. Har aapay jan meh aap rakhaaNt: the One places the One's own self inside them.

Dhan dhan guroo naanak samadrasee: blessed, blessed is Guru Nanak, samadrasee, the one who sees all with the same eyes. Because the One is in everyone, every person deserves the same respect, whatever their family, job or background. Jin nindaa ustat taree taraaNt: he has crossed beyond nindaa, blame, and ustat, praise. Think of a tall tree in the wind. Its leaves move, and its trunk stays still.

A Question to Sit With

How would you treat people if you saw the same light in each one?
