Nanak lives by gazing upon the Lord; may I see Him for a moment, for even just an instant. ||2||2||9||9||13||9||31||

In plain words

My Beloved, Raam, the One, wins my whole mind like a magnet. The One is supreme joy, free from all wanting.

Nanak says: I live by seeing the One. May I see the One for a moment, even for a single instant.

A single glimpse of what you love can carry you a long way.
The deeper layer

Seeing the Beloved, even for an instant, is what you live on.

Manmohan moro pareetam: my Beloved wins my mind. Manmohan means one who captivates the mind, beautiful beyond resisting. Parmaanand bairaagee: supreme joy, free of all craving.

Har daykhay jeevat hai naanak: Nanak lives by seeing the One. This glimpse is called darshan. Ik nimakh: one blink of an eye. Even that much is enough to live on. It is Malaar's hopeful thirst, like the rain-bird waiting for a single drop.

A Question to Sit With

Has a moment ever felt so good you wanted to hold onto it forever?
