In plain words

The poor little child's mind darts about. He reaches out and touches even snakes and fire.

His mother and father hug him close, and so he plays in joy and ease.

Being safely held is what lets you explore and grow without fear.
The deeper layer

The One holds you close the way parents hug a child who keeps reaching for danger.

Chanchal mat baarik bapuray kee: the little child's mind is restless. Sarap agan kar maylai: it reaches for snakes and fire. A small child does not yet know what can hurt it. Maataa pitaa kanth laa-ay raakhai: the mother and father hold it close. Anad sahj tab khaylai: then it plays in joy and ease.

Being held safely is what lets the child play freely, like a kid on a playground who keeps glancing back to see a parent watching.

A Question to Sit With

Who keeps you safe enough that you can try new things?
