In plain words

Being apart from the One is like dying, and meeting the One is life. Please give me, Your servant, a glimpse of You.

Nanak says: O my Lord, be kind to me. Let the Naam be my support, my life and my wealth.

You feel most alive when you're near what you love most.
The deeper layer

We feel most alive when we are near what we love most.

Bichhurat maran jeevan har miltay: being apart is death, meeting the One is life. These are strong words, and they show how deeply the heart feels it. Far away, everything feels lifeless. Close by, we come fully alive, like a drooping plant that perks up once it is watered.

The ask has three parts. First, darsan, a glimpse of the One. Then the Naam as aDhaar, support, as jeevan, life, and as Dhan, wealth. The Naam becomes the whole stuff of living.

Gurbani says something similar elsewhere: Truth is our food, our clothing and our home.

A Question to Sit With

What makes you feel most alive and awake inside?
