Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The clouds have poured rain down over the whole world.

My Beloved Lord has become kind to me, and I am blessed with joy, delight and peace.

When grace comes, it greens everything at once, inside and out.
The deeper layer

When grace comes, it pours over everything, and the heart fills with joy and peace.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Ghanihar baras sagal jag chhaa-i-aa: the clouds rained and covered the whole world. Malaar is the raag of the monsoon, and here the rain has come.

Bha-ay kirpaal pareetam parabh mayray: my Beloved became kind to me. Anad mangal sukh: joy, delight and peace, all together. The weather inside matches the weather outside.

A Question to Sit With

What does the world feel like to you right after a good rain?
