In the Saadh Sangat, the Company of the Holy, death and birth come to an end, and the mortal does not wander anywhere, ever again. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

My troubles are gone, and all my thirst is quenched, because my mind remembers the Supreme One.

In the Sangat, the coming and going of birth and death is ended, and I never wander anywhere again.

A long thirst, finally quenched, lets a restless heart come home.
The deeper layer

Remembering the One quenches the heart's thirst, and in the Sangat the wandering ends.

Mitay kalays tarisan sabh boojhee: troubles erased, every thirst quenched, like dry ground after the rain. Saadhsang is the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One.

Janam maran nivaaray: the round of birth and death comes to an end. Bahur na kathoo dhaa-i-aa: the heart no longer runs here and there. It has come home.

A Question to Sit With

When did something you'd longed for finally arrive and settle your heart?
