O Lord, Your slaves live by Your Support; Nanak has come to the Sanctuary of God. ||2||12||16||

In plain words

The One is the Master of those who have no master, and breaks the pain of the poor. The One has tied me to the hem of the robe.

O Lord, Your servants live by Your support. Nanak says: I have come to the One's shelter.

The One belongs first to anyone who feels they have no one.
The deeper layer

The One is family to anyone who feels they have no one.

Anaathaa naath: the Master of those with no master. Deen dukh bhanjan: the One who breaks the pain of the deen, the poor and the humble. Gurbani keeps putting the overlooked first. The One belongs first to those who feel they have no one.

Aap lee-ay larh laa-ee: the One has tied me to the hem of the robe. Think of a small child holding on to a parent's shirt in a crowded market. Held like that, the child is safe.

Har kee ot jeeveh daas tayray: Your servants live by Your ot, Your shelter, and Nanak has come to that shelter. Belonging is offered exactly to those the world passes by.
