Hugging him close in His Embrace, the Lord saves and protects His slave. The hot winds cannot even touch him. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
All over the world, people cheer for the One, who fills every living being with kindness.
The One hugs those who serve close and keeps them safe. Not even the hot wind can touch them.
Held close enough by love, even the harshest winds can't reach you.
Held close by the One, you are out of reach of the scorching wind.
Jai jai kaar is a cheer of victory heard all over the world. Da-i-aa jee-an meh paa-i-o: kindness is placed in every living being. Kanth laa-ay means to hug someone close to your chest. Taatee vaa-o na laa-i-o: the hot wind does not touch them. It is one of the best-loved pictures of safety in Gurbani: the One's protection is a warm hug.
A Question to Sit With
Where or with whom do you feel so safe that nothing outside can touch you?
