In plain words

Be kind to me, perfect Giver of peace.

By Your kindness, You come into my mind, and all day and all night I am colored with Your love.

Even the wish to remember is already a gift arriving.
The deeper layer

Even remembering the One is a gift, and when it comes, every hour is colored with love.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the centre of the shabad. Kar kirpaa pooran sukh-daatay means, "Be kind, perfect Giver of peace." Then comes a surprising idea: the One comes to mind by the One's own kindness. You don't squeeze it out by willpower. It is like a happy song popping into your head.

Aath pahar tayrai rang raatay: all eight watches, colored with Your love. Aath pahar means the eight parts of the old day and night, so all the time. Rang raatay means dyed in a color, soaked through, like a shirt in dye.

A Question to Sit With

What is something good that comes to mind on its own, without you forcing it?
