So hurry to the Sanctuary of the Holy, O Nanak; joining them, sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe. ||2||2||24||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I tried every other way, but nothing could take my sorrow away.

Nanak says: so hurry to the shelter of the holy people, and there, together, sing the goodness of the Lord of the World.

Some aches ease when you sing them out together.
The deeper layer

When nothing else eases the ache, run to the shelter of holy people and sing the One's goodness with them.

Aan upaav sagar kee-ay: I tried every other remedy. Neh dookh saakeh laahi: none could lift the sorrow. Bhaj saran saadhoo: hurry to the shelter of the holy. Mil gun gobindeh gaahi: meet them and sing the praises of Gobind, the Lord of the World. The answer to longing is a shared song.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you when nothing else seems to?
