Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The glory of my Beloved is lovely and fine.

The singers of the skies, Haahaa and Hoohoo, and the heavenly singers and dancers sing it beautifully, in joy and delight.

When something is beautiful enough, everything around it starts to sing.
The deeper layer

The Beloved's glory is so lovely that even the singers of the skies sing it with joy.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the centre of the shabad. Pari-a kee sobh suhaavanee neekee means the glory of my Beloved is lovely and fine. Haahaa hoohoo ganDharab apsaraa are the singers and dancers of the sky in old Indian stories. Haahaa and Hoohoo are the names of two heavenly singers. Anand mangal ras gaavnee means they sing in joy and delight.

Those old stories add one more voice to one great choir. Everything, seen and unseen, sings the same song. It is like a school concert where every class, even the ones backstage, joins the final chorus.

A Question to Sit With

What is so beautiful to you that it makes you want to sing or shout for joy?
