With love for the Guru, I enshrine the Lotus Feet of my Lord deep within my heart. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

With love for the Guru, I keep the lotus feet of my Beloved deep inside my heart.

The most precious things are kept in the quietest, deepest place inside you.
The deeper layer

Love for the Guru brings the Beloved to live deep inside your heart.

This is the rahaa-o, the pause line, the center of the shabad. Charan kamal, the lotus feet, means the Beloved's presence. A lotus grows up out of the mud and still blooms clean, so it is an old picture of a pure heart kept alive in the middle of ordinary life. Rid antar dhaaray: kept deep within, on the heart's inner altar.

A Question to Sit With

What do you keep in the safest place inside your heart?
