Seeing Clears The Heart

ਦਰਸੁ ਸਫਲਿਓ ਦਰਸੁ ਪੇਖਿਓ ਗਏ ਕਿਲਬਿਖ ਗਏ ॥
daras safli-o daras paykhi-o ga-ay kilbikh ga-ay.
I gaze on the Blessed Vision of His Fruitful Darshan; my sins are erased and taken away.
ਮਨ ਨਿਰਮਲ ਉਜੀਆਰੇ ॥੧॥
man nirmal ujee-aaray. ||1||
My mind is immaculate and enlightened. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I look upon You, and the sight of You is a blessing that bears fruit. My wrongs are gone, all gone.

My mind is clean and full of light.

Seeing what is good can make old mistakes light enough to let go.
The deeper layer

Seeing the One clears away old wrongs and leaves the mind clean and bright.

Daras safli-o daras paykhi-o: the fruitful sight, beheld. Darshan means beholding, and the seeing itself is what changes you. Ga-ay kilbikh ga-ay: the wrongs are gone, gone. They lift away like weights set down, with nothing left to carry. Man nirmal ujee-aaray: the mind is clean and full of light, like a window wiped clear.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt light and clear after seeing something clearly at last?
