In plain words

The peacock loves the thunder of the rain clouds.

The rainbird's heart is set on the raindrop.

In just that way, my mind is drawn to the One.

I have let go of Maya, the shiny world that fools me.

Nanak says: meeting the saints, I have woken up.

Long for the One the way the rainbird waits, open-mouthed, for its raindrop.
The deeper layer

Your heart can long for the One the way the peacock loves thunder and the rainbird waits for rain.

Ghanghor preet mor: the peacock's love for the thundercloud. Chit chaatrik boond or: the chaatrik, the rainbird, keeps its heart on the single swaati raindrop it waits for, and it is said to drink only that pure drop. These are the two signature birds of Raag Malaar, pictures of a heart set on one thing. Tiaag maa-i-aa dhoh: letting go of Maya, the shine that fools you. Mil sant jaagi-aa: meeting the saints, waking up.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you wait for with your whole heart?
