When The Tangles Come Undone

ਪਾਰਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਭਏ ਦਇਆਲ ॥
paarbarahm bha-ay da-i-aal.
The Supreme Lord God has become merciful;
ਬਿਨਸਿ ਗਏ ਬਿਖੈ ਜੰਜਾਲ ॥
binas ga-ay bikhai janjaal.
corrupt entanglements have come to an end.
ਸਾਧ ਜਨਾਂ ਕੈ ਚਰਨ ਲਾਗਿ ॥
saaDh janaaN kai charan laag.
Grasping the feet of the Holy,
ਨਾਨਕ ਗਾਵੈ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਨੀਤ ॥੨॥੬॥੨੮॥
naanak gaavai gobind neet. ||2||6||28||
Nanak sings forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the World. ||2||6||28||

In plain words

The Highest One has become kind to me,

and the tangled wants that did me harm have come undone.

Holding on to the feet of the holy ones,

Nanak says: I sing of the Lord of the World every day.

Grace has a way of quietly untangling what you could not undo yourself.
The deeper layer

When grace comes, the knots in life start to loosen on their own.

Paarbarahm bha-ay da-i-aal — the Highest One has become kind. Grace means a gift of kindness. Binas ga-ay bikhai janjaal — the tangles have come undone. Janjaal means a web of tangles. They are not cut apart by force. Grace loosens them, the way a patient hand works a knot out of tangled earbuds.

SaaDh janaa kai charan laag — Nanak stays at the feet of the holy. Being humble, low and open, keeps the heart clear. And so he keeps singing of the One, every day.

A Question to Sit With

What is a knot in your life you hope will gently come undone?
