Even The Lost Can Be Found

ਬਾਧੀ ਧੰਧਿ ਅੰਧ ਨਹੀ ਸੂਝੈ ਬਧਿਕ ਕਰਮ ਕਮਾਵੈ ॥
baaDhee DhanDh anDh nahee soojhai baDhik karam kamaavai.
Bound in worldly affairs and entanglements, the blind one does not understand; he acts like a murderous butcher.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਿਲੈ ਤ ਸੂਝਸਿ ਬੂਝਸਿ ਸਚ ਮਨਿ ਗਿਆਨੁ ਸਮਾਵੈ ॥੮॥
satgur milai ta soojhas boojhas sach man gi-aan samaavai. ||8||
But if he meets with the True Guru, then he comprehends and understands, and his mind is imbued with true spiritual wisdom. ||8||

In plain words

Tied up in busy worldly affairs, the blind one cannot see; he acts as cruelly as a butcher.

But if he meets the True Guru, then he sees and understands, and true wisdom fills his mind.

No heart is too tangled to be gently cleared by true wisdom.
The deeper layer

Tied up in busy affairs, a person can stop seeing and act cruelly, and meeting the Guru brings understanding.

Baadhee dhandh andh nahee soojhai: bound up in worldly business, the blind one cannot see. Badhik karam kamaavai: he acts like a butcher, hurting others. Satgur milai ta soojhas boojhas: meeting the True Guru, he sees and understands. Hope is offered even to the harshest figure.

If someone is being unkind to you or hurting you, that is never something you have to accept. Telling a grown-up you trust is always the right thing to do.

A Question to Sit With

Have you seen someone change completely once they finally understood something?
