Verse 8 of 11

Not Even For A Moment

Without my Beloved, I cannot survive even for an instant; without meeting Him, I cannot sleep. ||7||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Without my Beloved, I cannot last even a moment. Until we meet, I cannot sleep.

A heart that won't settle is a heart staying loyal to the One it loves.
The deeper layer

Missing the One can keep a heart wide awake, and that wakefulness is love.

Ik khin means a single instant. This is the language of longing, the way you might say you can't wait one more minute to see someone you love. The sleeplessness is loyalty. The heart keeps watch, waiting for the meeting.

A Question to Sit With

What are you unwilling to settle for less than?
