In plain words

O Beloved, Your ways are beyond reach and without end.

You carry across even those who have gone the most wrong.

You make the fallen pure, You love Your devotees, You are an ocean of mercy, our Master.

In the Sangat, remember the One with your whole heart, forever. The One knows every heart from inside.

Those who have wandered through millions of lives are carried across by remembering the Naam.

Nanak says: Dear One, I am thirsty for a glimpse of You. Please take care of me Yourself.

No one is ever too far gone to be carried home.
The deeper layer

No one has gone so far wrong that the One's mercy cannot reach them.

Patit paavan: the One makes the fallen pure. Bhagat vachhal: the One loves the devotees. Kripaa sindh: the One is an ocean of mercy. Even those who have gone the most wrong, mahaa patit, are carried across. No one is beyond reach.

Santsangay means in the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One. There you remember the One wholeheartedly, holding nothing back. Then comes Nanak's thirst for one glimpse, darshan, of the Beloved. Malaar is the raag of the rainy season, and this thirst is like dry ground waiting for rain.

A Question to Sit With

Who helps you remember what matters when you have drifted from it?
