Always serve the One, who takes no time at all to act.
The One spread the sky across the heavens; in a moment the One can knock it down and build it again.
The One made the world and thinks over all it has made.
The one who follows only their own mind is asked for an account later and takes many hard blows. The one who follows the Guru settles the account with honor and is given the treasure of praise.
There, no hand can reach to help, and no one hears your cry. There, the True Guru is your friend and pulls you out at the very last moment.
For all of us there is no other service than the True Guru and the Creator above all.
The One builds and rebuilds in a moment, and the Guru is the friend who stays with you to the very end.
Khin meh dhaahi usaaranhaar: in an instant the One knocks down and builds again. Guru Nanak looks at the whole sky as something the One can fold and unfold.
The pauri then turns to the laykhaa, the account of how we lived. The manmukh, who follows only their own mind, finds it hard. The gurmukh, who follows the Guru, settles it with honor. Where no other hand can reach, the satgur is the baylee, the friend, who pulls us out at the last moment.
Think of a climbing partner holding your rope. When your feet slip, they are the one who holds you.
Who stays with you all the way to the end of something hard?
