O rainbird, the One you call out to is the One everyone longs for.
When the One is kind, it rains, and the forests and grasses turn green.
By the Guru's grace the One is found; only a few understand this.
Sitting down and standing up, keep the One in mind every day, and be at peace forever and ever.
Nanak says: the sweet nectar rains down always; the One gives it to those who follow the Guru.
Everyone longs for the same One, and the sweet rain of the Naam is always falling.
The baabeehaa, the rainbird, is said to drink only raindrops straight from the sky, so it calls and calls for rain. In Raag Malaar it stands for a heart full of longing. Its call is everyone's call.
Bahdi-aa uthdi-aa nit dhi-aa-ee-ai: sitting and standing, remember the One every day. Amrit, sweet nectar, is the Naam itself, and it never stops falling. Think of a well-loved song you hum all day, while you walk, eat and play.
What is the one thing you find yourself calling for again and again?
