tinH sog vijog kaday nahee jo har kai ank samaa-ay. ||7||
They never suffer sorrow or separation; they are merged in the Being of the Lord. ||7||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
In plain words
Dear One, You are the Truest of the True; You bring the true into Yourself.
Those caught in "two" stay on the side of "two"; holding on to what is false, they cannot meet You.
You Yourself join, and You Yourself pull apart; You show Your wonder.
Clinging brings sorrow and parting; each of us lives out what was written before.
I give my whole self to those who stay lovingly close to the One's feet.
They are like the lotus, which floats on the water and stays dry. That is how the One has made them.
They are at peace and beautiful forever, for they have let go of their own small self.
Sorrow and parting never touch them; they rest in the One's embrace.
Be like the lotus — fully in the water, yet never soaked by it.
The deeper layer
Like a lotus on the water, a heart close to the One lives in the world and stays clean.
Doojai doojee taraf hai: the one caught in doojaa, "two," the split between the One and everything else, stands on the other side. Moh sog vijog hai: clinging brings sorrow and parting. Poorab likhi-aa kamaa-ay: we live out what our past actions have written.
Ji-o jal meh kamal alipat hai: like the lotus in the water, untouched. The lotus grows in a muddy pond, yet its petals stay clean and dry. Those who let go of haumai, ego, the feeling of being a separate self, rest in the One's ank, the One's embrace, where parting cannot reach.
A Question to Sit With
How can you be fully in something without being pulled under by it?
