In plain words

How can the One who cannot be weighed be weighed? Yet without weighing, the One cannot be found.

Think deeply on the Guru's word, and stay soaked in the One's goodness.

The One weighs itself, and the One brings us close to itself.

No one can find the One's worth; nothing can be said about it.

I give my whole self to my Guru, who helped me understand what is true.

The world is being cheated, and the sweet nectar is being stolen away; the one who follows only their own mind does not understand.

Without the Naam, nothing goes along with them; they waste their life and leave.

Those who follow the Guru's teaching stay awake and keep their heart's home safe; the demons have no power over them.

You cannot measure the boundless — you can only let it draw you in.
The deeper layer

The One cannot be measured, and a heart that stays awake keeps its treasure safe.

Atul ki-o tolee-ai: how can the unweighable be weighed? Apnaa aap aap tolsee: the One weighs itself. We come to know the One by reflecting on the Guru's word and soaking in the One's goodness.

Jagat musai amrit lutee-ai: the world is being cheated, and the nectar stolen. The manmukh, who follows only their own mind, does not notice. Gurmatee jaagay: those who follow the Guru's teaching stay awake and keep the ghar, the home of the heart, safe. The doot, demons, stand for whatever robs a sleeping heart.

Think of a house with its lights on and someone home. Burglars pass it by.

A Question to Sit With

What is worth more than anything you could put a price on?
