Those who follow the Guru and sing Raag Malaar — their mind and body become cool and calm.
Through the Guru's Word they recognize the One, the only True One.
Their mind and body are true; they keep the True One in mind, and they are known as true.
True devotion lives deep inside them, and honor comes to them easily.
In this dark age there is thick darkness, and the one who follows only their own mind cannot find the way.
Nanak says: how fortunate are those who follow the Guru, to whom the One is shown.
Singing Malaar with a heart turned to the Guru makes mind and body cool, and shows the One even in a dark age.
A salok of the Third Mehl. Seetal, cool and calm, is the raag's own effect: singing Malaar with a turned heart cools man tan, mind and body. Kalijug, the dark age, is any confusing, noisy time, and the manmukh, who follows only their own mind, cannot find the way in it. Vadbhaagee: how fortunate are those to whom the One is revealed.
What helps you stay calm when everything around you feels loud and unclear?
