Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The One makes the world, and the One takes care of it.
Without awe of the One, doubt is not cut away, and love for the Naam does not take hold.
Through the True Guru that awe wells up, and the door to freedom is found.
Through that awe, ease comes on its own, and my light melts into the endless Light.
Through that awe, thinking on the Guru's teaching, I cross the scary sea of the world.
Through that awe, I find the Fearless One, who has no end and no far shore.
Those who follow only their own minds do not know what this awe is worth. Burning with wanting, they cry out.
Nanak says: peace comes through the Naam alone, by keeping the Guru's teaching in your heart.
Loving awe of the One clears away doubt, brings ease, and leads to the Fearless One.
Bhai bin bharam na katee-ai: without bhai, awe of the One, doubt is not cut away. This awe is the wonder you feel under a huge night sky, never dread. It wells up through the True Guru and opens mokh du-aar, the door to freedom.
Bhai tay sahj paa-ee-ai: through awe comes sahj, natural ease. Bhai tay nirbha-o paa-ee-ai: through awe the Fearless One, nirbha-o, is found. Standing in one great awe, the smaller fears grow quiet.
The manmukh, the one who follows only their own mind, does not know what this awe is worth and burns with tarisnaa, wanting. Peace comes through the Naam, kept in the heart by the Guru's teaching.
When has something enormous and beautiful made your everyday worries feel small?
