A Shelter That Never Fails

tayree sarnaa-ee sachee har jee-o naa oh ghatai na jaa-ay.
True Is Your Sanctuary, O Dear Lord; it never diminishes or goes away.
Those who abandon the Lord, and become attached to the love of duality, shall continue to die and be reborn. ||3||

In plain words

Dear One, Your shelter is true. It never shrinks, and it never goes away.

Whoever leaves the One and clings to the love of "two" keeps being born and dying, round and round.

The true shelter never fails, and the way back is always open.
The deeper layer

The One's shelter is true and never runs out; leaving it for the love of "two" means going round and round.

Tayree sarnaa-ee sachee har jee-o means, dear One, Your shelter is true. Naa oh ghatai na jaa-ay means it never shrinks and never goes away. It is not like a phone battery that drains. It is always full.

Then the verse speaks of those who turn away. Jo har chhod doojai bhaa-ay laagai means some leave the One and chase doojai bhaa-ay, the love of "two-ness," the feeling of being separate. Oh jammai tai mar jaa-ay means they keep being born and dying, round and round. It is like running on a wheel that never gets anywhere, restless and tired.

But because the shelter never goes away, the way home is always open.

A Question to Sit With

When you feel lost or restless, what helps you find your way back?
