A life that bears fruit

ਸਫਲ ਜਨਮੁ ਜੀਵਨ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥
safal janam jeevan parvaan.
Their lives are fruitful and prosperous, and their birth is approved;
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਹਰਿ ਰੰਗੁ ਮਾਣੁ ॥੩॥
gur parsaadee har rang maan. ||3||
by Guru's Grace, they enjoy the Love of the Lord. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Their lives bear fruit, and their being born is welcomed and accepted.

By the Guru's kindness, they enjoy the love of the One.

A life well-lived bears fruit and gets to be enjoyed.
The deeper layer

A life that counts is one that enjoys the One's love.

The verse calls it safal janam jeevan parvaan: a birth that bears fruit, a life that is accepted. Like a tree that finally gives apples, this life gives something good.

Then gur parsaadee har rang maan: by the Guru's kindness, they enjoy the One's love. The key word is enjoy. It is about savoring, like tasting a favorite meal. It is not a grim chore.
