O Nanak, as Gurmukh, they are carried across to the other shore. ||4||7||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The grabbing wants, the anger and the puffed-up pride are wiped away.

Nanak says: those who turn toward the Guru are carried across to the far shore.

Turning toward what is good slowly wipes away the very things that weigh you down.
The deeper layer

Turning to the Guru wipes away what weighs you down, and carries you home.

The verse names three heavy things: grabbing desire, anger and ego. It says binsay kaam kroDh: desire and anger melt away, and ego goes with them. Kaam means desire and kroDh means anger.

Then naanak gurmukh utreh paar: those turned toward the Guru cross to the other side. Picture a river with a strong current. A good boat carries you to the far bank, and you step out safe. The shabad ends right there, at arrival and safety.

A Question to Sit With

Which weighs on you most — grabbing wants, quick anger, or pride? What helps it soften?
