Verse 3 of 5

The True Word wins the heart

ਸਾਚ ਸਬਦ ਸਿਉ ਲਾਗੀ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ॥
saach sabad si-o laagee pareet.
I am in love with the True Word of His Shabad.
ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਅਪੁਨਾ ਆਇਆ ਚੀਤਿ ॥੨॥
har parabh apunaa aa-i-aa cheet. ||2||
The Lord God has come into my consciousness. ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I have fallen in love with the True Word.

The One, my own Lord, has come into my mind.

Love opens a door, and the things you love make a home in your awareness.
The deeper layer

Loving the True Word lets the One come into your heart.

Saach sabad si-o laagee pareet means "I have fallen in love with the True Word." Saach means true and lasting. It stands against things that wash off.

Think of writing with a marker on your hand. It fades by bedtime. But something carved into a tree stays for years. The true Word is the kind that stays.

Har parabh apunaa aa-i-aa cheet means "my own Lord came into my awareness." Cheet means the mind, the part of you that notices. Love opens the door, and the One simply walks in.

A Question to Sit With

What do you love so much that it is always somewhere in your thoughts?
