Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Chant the Naam of the One, every single day.
The grabbing wants, the anger and the puffed-up pride are wiped away. Let yourself fall in love with the One alone.
Fall in love with the One, and anger and pride lose their grip.
This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the song. Har ko naam japee-ai neet means keep repeating the Naam of the One, steadily, every day.
Kaam kroDh ahaNkaar binsai means grabbing wants, anger and pride fade away. Kaam is strong wanting, kroDh is anger, and ahaNkaar is puffed-up pride.
But notice how it happens. The verse does not say "fight them hard." It says lagai aykai pareet: you fall in love with the One. The bad feelings are not just pushed down. Love takes their place. Think of a dark room. You do not scoop the darkness out with a bucket. You switch on a light, and the dark is simply gone.
When your heart is full of something you love, how much room is left for anger?
