In plain words

The wrongs and troubles of countless lifetimes are wiped away, and the One keeps you safe.

The One is your mother, your father, your friend and your brother.

Servant Nanak says: remember the One, Har, Har.

The Source of love can be everything to you at once — parent, friend, and family together.
The deeper layer

The One is your whole family at once: mother, father, friend and brother.

Janam janam bikhaad binsay means the trouble of many, many lifetimes melts away. Bikhaad means trouble and inner fighting. Raakh leenay aap means the One personally keeps us safe.

Then Guru Arjan gives one of his favorite pictures: maat pitaa meet bhaa-ee. The One is mother, father, friend and brother, all together. It is a tender, complete picture of love, not just one kind of love. Think of a family dinner table where every seat is filled by the same kind heart.

Jan naanak har har jaap means servant Nanak says, keep remembering the One.

A Question to Sit With

Which kind of love do you most need right now — a parent's, a friend's, a sibling's?
