Verse 4 of 9

You see the world you carry

ji-o man daykheh par man taisaa.
According to one's own mind, one sees the minds of others.
jaisee mansaa taisee dasaa.
According to one's desires, one's condition is determined.
jaisaa karam taisee liv laavai.
According to one's actions, one is focused and tuned in.
satgur poochh sahj ghar paavai. ||3||
Seeking the advice of the True Guru, one finds the home of peace and poise. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

As your own mind is, so you see the minds of others.

As your wishes are, so your life becomes.

As your deeds are, so your attention is tuned.

Ask the True Guru, and you find the home of peace and calm.

The world you see is colored by the mind you carry into it.
The deeper layer

You see others through your own mind, and asking the Guru brings you home to calm.

Ji-o man daykheh par man taisaa: we see others through the lens of our own mind. Desire (mansaa) shapes our condition (dasaa), and action (karam) shapes what we tune in to. Satgur poochh sahj ghar paavai: ask the True Guru and find sahj, the home of natural ease, being completely at home in yourself.

A Question to Sit With

When your mood changes, do the people around you seem to change too?
