Wherever I look

ਜਹ ਜਹ ਦੇਖਾ ਤਹ ਤਹ ਸੋਈ ॥
jah jah daykhaa tah tah so-ee.
Wherever I look, I see Him.
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਮੁਕਤਿ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
bin satgur bhaytay mukat na ho-ee.
Without meeting the True Guru, no one is liberated.
ਹਿਰਦੈ ਸਚੁ ਏਹ ਕਰਣੀ ਸਾਰੁ ॥
hirdai sach ayh karnee saar.
Enshrine the True One in your heart; this is the most excellent action.
ਹੋਰੁ ਸਭੁ ਪਾਖੰਡੁ ਪੂਜ ਖੁਆਰੁ ॥੬॥
hor sabh pakhand pooj khu-aar. ||6||
All other hypocritical actions and devotions bring only ruin. ||6||

In plain words

Wherever I look, I see the One.

Without meeting the True Guru, no one is set free.

Keep the True One in your heart; this is the finest thing you can do.

All other show-off worship and empty deeds bring only ruin.

Look closely enough anywhere, and the same One is looking back.
The deeper layer

The One is everywhere you look.

jah jah daykhaa tah tah so-ee — wherever I look, there is the One.

bin satgur bhaytay mukat na ho-ee — without meeting the true Guru, no one is set free.

hirdai sach ayh karnee saar — keeping the True One in your heart is the best thing you can do. hor sabh pakhand pooj khu-aar — all other show-off worship brings ruin. Pakhand means doing religious things just for show.

Think of a phone with a beautiful case but a dead battery. It looks nice, but it can't do anything. Worship done only for show leaves us empty like that.

A Question to Sit With

Where is a place you'd least expect to find something sacred, and what if it were there too?
