A mind gone cool and quiet

ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਸੀਤਲੁ ਗੁਰਿ ਬੂਝ ਬੁਝਾਈ ॥
man tan seetal gur boojh bujhaa-ee.
Their minds and bodies are cooled and soothed; the Guru imparts this understanding.
ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਨਿਵਾਜੇ ਕਿਨਿ ਕੀਮਤਿ ਪਾਈ ॥੭॥
parabh nivaajay kin keemat paa-ee. ||7||
Who can estimate the value of those whom God has exalted? ||7||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Their minds and bodies grow cool and calm, like shade after a long hot walk. The Guru gives them this understanding.

Who can put a price on those the One has lifted up?

When understanding lands, the whole self goes cool and quiet, like shade on a hot day.
The deeper layer

When understanding comes, you grow calm and cool inside.

The verse says man tan seetal: mind and body become cool. That coolness suits Prabhaatee, a raag of the fresh early morning. The words gur boojh bujhaa-ee tell us why: the Guru passes on the understanding. It is like stepping into shade after a long hot walk.

Then parabh nivaajay kin keemat paa-ee: who can put a price on those the One has lifted up? Their worth is beyond any measure.

A Question to Sit With

When has a moment of understanding suddenly made you feel calm and cool inside?
