The Player Behind Every Game

ਤਾ ਕਉ ਸਮਝਾਵਣ ਜਾਈਐ ਜੇ ਕੋ ਭੂਲਾ ਹੋਈ ॥
taa ka-o samjhaavan jaa-ee-ai jay ko bhoolaa ho-ee.
If anyone is mistaken and fooled, you should go to instruct him.
ਆਪੇ ਖੇਲ ਕਰੇ ਸਭ ਕਰਤਾ ਐਸਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਈ ॥੩॥
aapay khayl karay sabh kartaa aisaa boojhai ko-ee. ||3||
The Creator Himself plays all the games; only a few understand this. ||3||

In plain words

If someone has lost their way, go and help them understand.

The Creator Himself plays all the games. Only a few understand this.

Help those who are lost, and remember the One playing through every scene.
The deeper layer

Help people who are lost, and remember the One is behind every game.

Taa ka-o samjhaavan jaa-ee-ai: go and explain things to that person. Jay ko bhoolaa ho-ee: if someone is mistaken. That is a call to help gently.

Aapay khayl karay sabh kartaa: the Creator plays all the games. Aisaa boojhai ko-ee: only a few understand this. The two halves balance each other. Help those who are lost. And stay humble, because even our helping happens inside the One's bigger game. It is like helping a teammate on the field. You make a good pass, but you remember you are part of a whole team.

A Question to Sit With

Can you help someone without thinking you are better than them?
