you have slept for so many incarnations - wake up! ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Sing the praises of the One — the seed-song that everything grows from.

Even someone with no home finds a home in the world to come.

Bow at the feet of the perfect Guru.

You have been asleep for so many lifetimes — wake up!

Even the homeless heart finds a home in the One.
The deeper layer

Beej mantar, the seed-mantra, is the root sound that everything grows from. Nithaavay thaa-o: even someone with no place finds a place. So-i-aa jaag — sleeper, wake up! — is a bright, urgent call, like a parent opening the curtains on a school morning.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that feels like “home” to you, no matter where you are?
