Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Chant the Name of the One, *Har, Har*, again and again.

By the Guru's grace it comes to live in your heart, and you cross the wide and stormy sea of the world.

Held close, the Name carries you across the roughest water.
The deeper layer

The Naam, held close by gur kirpaa tay (the Guru's grace), settles into the heart. Bhaojal is the world pictured as a huge ocean, too wide to cross alone. Living in the heart, the Naam carries you to the other side.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you get through a stretch of life that feels like rough water?
