Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
O mind, keep remembering the never-ending treasure of the Name.
Then the curtain of Maya — the pull of money and things — is torn away.
Drink in the sweet nectar of the Guru's word,
and your soul becomes spotless and clear.
Remembering the Name lets the curtain of “more, more” fall away.
Naam nidhaan is the Name pictured as a treasure, and atal means it never wears out. Maa-i-aa kay patal is the screen of Maya, like a curtain hung across a window. When it tears away, you see clearly. The amrit ras of the Guru's word, the sweet nectar of the Shabad, leaves the soul nirmal, spotless.
