The nine treasures are all with You, and You can do all things.
You set up and You take down; whatever You do, happens.
Nanak says: the one who lives with self-control, a faithful life, discipline, truth and a clean mind, that yogi is a friend to all three worlds.
The true seeker is a friend to all of creation.
Tujh peh na-o nidh means "the nine treasures are with You." The nine treasures stand for everything worth having. The One thaap uthaapay, sets things up and takes them down, and whatever the One does, happens.
Then comes the true yogi. Jat sat sanjam sach sucheet means self-control, truth, discipline and a clean, clear mind. The one who lives like this is tribhavan meet, a friend of the three worlds, meaning all of existence.
Think of a kid who is kind to everyone, the new student, the teacher, the lunch staff. That kid is welcome everywhere. After all the teasing about costumes, Guru Nanak ends not with criticism but with hope. Anyone can become this kind of yogi.
What kind of person feels welcome and trusted everywhere they go — and why?
