Keeping my mind on the feet of the One, every day, is heaven for me.
In the Sangat I find the treasure of freedom and the sweet, life-giving Naam of the One.
Heaven is close by. It is right here, whenever we keep the One in mind.
This is the pause line, the rahaa-o, the center of the shabad.
Baikunth means heaven or paradise. Many people picture it as a prize at the end of life. This verse moves it into today. Heaven is Dhi-aa-o, keeping the One in mind, day after day. Think of the warm feeling of a cozy evening at home with your family. You do not have to travel anywhere to reach it.
The verse adds that the saaDhoo sangat, the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One — holds two treasures. One is mukat padaarath, the treasure of freedom. The other is amrit har kaa naa-o, the sweet, life-giving Naam. Heaven becomes a way of living now, not a place earned later.
What is a small daily habit that feels a little like heaven to you?
