Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Without the Naam, a person's understanding stays shallow.

Whoever does not remember the One, the Master of all, walks blind in the dark and suffers deeply.

Understanding grows deep when it is rooted in the Naam.
The deeper layer

har kay naamheen mat thoree: without the Naam, understanding stays thoree, shallow, like a puddle that never runs deep. andh means blind: walking without light, bumping into things, and hurting. moorakh, fool, is someone who has lost the way and can find it again.

A Question to Sit With

When has a little more light or understanding kept you from stumbling?
