He wanders in various incarnations, growing weary; he wanders through them again and again. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
A person falls into the dark pit of clinging to home and things, a terrible darkness.
They wander through life after life, worn out, going around again and again.
Getting lost in wanting is exhausting — and there is always a door back to the light.
Garihi andh koop is a dark well of clinging to home and things, and narak ghor gubaar a terrible darkness. Anik jonee bharmat haari-o: wandering through many lives, worn out. It is a picture of what it feels like to be lost in craving, chasing the same thing in circles until you are tired. Every darkness like this has a door out.
A Question to Sit With
When you notice yourself going in circles wanting the same thing, what helps you step out of the loop?
