The True Lord God has Himself administered the intoxicating drug of corruption, and led the mortal astray. ||1||Pause||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Without the Naam, the soul is stained and clouded.

The True One gave it the dizzy drink of poison and let it wander off.

Remembering the One is what keeps the heart's window clear.
The deeper layer

Mailaa means stained or clouded, like the heart's inner window gone dusty. Bikhai thag-uree is again the intoxicating potion of maya, the fog of wanting, a pull woven into existence. Only the Naam keeps the glass clear.

A Question to Sit With

What clouds your mind — and what helps it feel clear again?
