Say the Naam of the One, you saints, you people of the One; hold it in your thoughts, your words, and your actions all at once. Say it again and again, and every wrong you carry falls away.
Stay awake and aware every day, and joy fills you forever. Nanak says: Your devotees meet You, and everything a heart could wish for comes to them — a good life, what they need, their hopes, and freedom itself.
Love the One with all of yourself — what you think, what you say and what you do.
Man bachan karam means thought, word and deed together. It is like a promise to a friend. Saying it is good. Keeping it in your heart and in your actions makes it whole. Love for the One is the same. It is not only spoken; it is lived.
Jaagran means staying awake inside, aware and alert. Aanand means a gladness that lasts. The verse ends by naming four great aims of life that people in India have spoken of for ages: Dharam (a good life), arath (what you need), kaam (your hopes) and mokh (freedom). All four come to those who love the One. Nothing is left out.
What would it look like to do one good thing in thought, word, and action today?
