O Nanak, savoring the Naam, the Name of the Lord, I have become detached; my generations have been carried across as well. ||2||87||110||

In plain words

The One took me by the hand and gave me everything.

The One lit a lamp inside me so I could finally see.

Nanak says: tasting the Naam, I stopped clinging to things.

And the light did not stop with me; it reached my whole family, carrying them along too.

When the One lights your lamp, the light reaches everyone you love.
The deeper layer

The One took my hand, gave me everything, and lit a lamp inside me.

Kar geh leenay means taking someone by the hand. It shows grace as close, caring help, like a parent guiding a small child across the street. Deepak bha-i-o ujaaro means the lamp is lit and the room is bright. Understanding dawns.

Bairaagee often means "detached." Here it means free from clinging. It isn't cold or distant. It is the lightness of someone who stops grabbing.

Kulah samoohaan taaro means whole families and generations carried across. One heart's awakening blesses everyone around it.

A Question to Sit With

How might your own happiness and steadiness make life better for the people around you?
