- you are intoxicated with the great corruption of attachment and pride, but you do not remember the Lord in meditation. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

Why do I keep crying and complaining?

I have gotten dizzy with wanting things and with my own pride. I am so caught up in them that I forget to remember the One.

When you catch yourself spiraling, it is often a gentle nudge to turn back toward the One.
The deeper layer

Much of our crying and complaining comes from forgetting the One.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad.

Karan palaah means crying and complaining. Moh mad means being dizzy with wanting and with pride.

The "you" here can be heard gently, like catching yourself in a bad mood and asking, "Wait, what is really going on?" Think of a toddler who is cranky and crying, when really they just need a nap.

The cause is simrat naahi, forgetting to remember the One. The answer is simply turning back toward the One.

A Question to Sit With

Next time you notice yourself complaining in circles, what might happen if you paused and asked what your heart needs?
