Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

You can give away much gold, give land to good causes, and wash your mind clean in many ways.

None of it equals the Naam. Mind, hold on to the One's lotus feet.

Even the best gift is not a substitute for love itself.
The deeper layer

Gold given away, land given in charity, a mind purified many ways — all good — yet none, alone, equals resting in the Name (naam tul na). Good deeds are real; they are simply not a substitute for love itself.

A Question to Sit With

When has a small act of love mattered more than an expensive gift?
