Meditate lovingly on the Lord, and sing forever the Glorious Praises of the Lord of the Universe.
ਹਰਿ ਜਨ ਕੀ ਰੇਨ ਬਾਂਛੁ ਦੈਨਹਾਰ ਸੁਆਮੀ ॥੧॥
har jan kee rayn baaNchh dainhaar su-aamee. ||1||
I long for the dust of the feet of the Lord's humble servant, O Great Giver, my Lord and Master. ||1||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Love the One, hold the One in your thoughts, and sing what is good and true again and again.
And let me be humble enough to sit low among people who live this way — as low as the dust on their feet — because that is where I learn the most. Great Giver, this is my longing.
Sitting low among the Guru's people is where the deepest learning happens.
Har jan kee rayn, the dust of the feet of those who live the Name, is an old image for humility — choosing to sit low so you can learn. Love, remembrance, and song are named as the practice; humility is named as the posture that lets the practice take root.
A Question to Sit With
