Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Looking upon the Guru, I sing the praises of my Beloved.

When I join the Sangat, I get free of the five thieves, and I find the One.

You do not fight the five thieves alone; the Sangat loosens their grip.
The deeper layer

The panch, the five inner thieves, are the classic list: lust, anger, greed, attachment, and pride. They loosen in the Sangat, while the heart is busy singing.

SaaDhsang is the Sangat — people gathered together to remember the One.

A Question to Sit With

What is one habit that loosens its hold on you when you are around the right people?
