Verse 2 of 3

None of It Comes With You

ਦ੍ਰਿਸਟਉ ਕਛੁ ਸੰਗਿ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਮਾਨੁ ਤਿਆਗਿ ਮੋਹਾ ॥
darisat-a-o kachh sang na jaa-ay maan ti-aag mohaa.
Nothing of the visible world shall go along with you; abandon your pride and attachment.
ਏਕੈ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਿ ਲਾਇ ਮਿਲਿ ਸਾਧਸੰਗਿ ਸੋਹਾ ॥੧॥
aykai har pareet laa-ay mil saaDhsang sohaa. ||1||
Love the One Lord, and join the Saadh Sangat, and you shall be embellished and exalted. ||1||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Look around — none of the things you can see and touch will travel with you in the end. So let go of pride, and of clinging to things.

Love the One, join the Sangat, and something inside you quietly becomes beautiful.

Let go of pride and clinging, and beauty grows in you on its own.
The deeper layer

Daristao kachh sang na jaae — nothing you can see travels onward with you. Setting down maan (pride) and mohaa (clinging) is what makes room for the One. The beauty (sohaa) that follows is a byproduct of love, not something chased directly.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you hold tightly that you might be able to loosen your grip on?
